Narrative:

As flight attendants prepared to start meal service, several call lights started going off in the rows forward of row 3R. I went up to the area and several passenger were pointing to the floor of row 23G and said sparks were coming from the floor. I informed the cockpit and the first officer came back to check it out. We both felt around the floor for hot spots and pulled back the rug. He returned to the cockpit and the decision was made to turn off the entertainment unit and divert to snn. Approximately 30 mins later we landed in snn without incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that when they diverted to shannon, the captain told them to be ready to evacuate/evacuation, but it was probably not going to be necessary to go through the evacuate/evacuation checklist with the passenger. After they landed, fire marshals came onboard with radar guns, checking for hot spots. The mechanics removed power to the entertainment system, and they continued the flight onto boston without incident, without entertainment for the passenger.
