Narrative:

I was the first officer flying at the controls. We received the initial ATIS which said to expect runway 26R on arrival into vancouver. I programmed the FMC for the filed acord 9 arrival. I also input the new transition to runway 26R. As we approached vancouver, the runway switched to runway 8. We briefed runway 8L approach and changed our navaids and ILS frequency, but I forgot to change the FMC to runway 8L for the arrival. We inadvertently flew outbound, north of acord towards huh, approach control then gave us a vector of 250 degrees to intercept the vancouver 104 degree radial inbound. We were not a conflict with any other aircraft.
