Narrative:
I had accepted a pointout on a flight air carrier X climbing to FL290 vwv..ape..clt. I slant zeroed the data block and inadvertently took the handoff by track ball. The aircraft then entered ZID airspace without coordination as I had thought ape had the handoff.

Narrative: I HAD ACCEPTED A POINTOUT ON A FLT ACR X CLBING TO FL290 VWV..APE..CLT. I SLANT ZEROED THE DATA BLOCK AND INADVERTENTLY TOOK THE HDOF BY TRACK BALL. THE ACFT THEN ENTERED ZID AIRSPACE WITHOUT COORD AS I HAD THOUGHT APE HAD THE HDOF.
