Narrative:

On takeoff power was applied and aircraft accelerated to 40 KIAS. An amber (baggage door) caption illuminated and the takeoff was aborted. Leaving the runway, the light extinguished, indicated normal operation. The first officer stated that the aircraft had been recently painted and the thick paint caused the microswitch to lose contact during acceleration for takeoff. Checklist complete and the door light out, the flight continued normally. Supplemental information from acn 471715: aircraft pressurized normally which reaffirms that the door was closed.
