Narrative:

Departing L15 on the sub-one departure, I contacted las approach and requested 7500 ft. ATC responded 'radar contact, I'll work on that 7500 ft.' I responded 'climbing 5500 ft,' which is the final altitude in the sub-one unless ATC grants otherwise. My first officer, who was PF, clipped the 3500 ft crossing limit at the las 145 degree radial. She thought that the crossing limit had been deleted.
