Narrative:
We towed aircraft to the gate, then observed APU would not start. I sent a mechanic to get a new APU, esu (engine speed control unit). We installed the esu, operations checked good and I released the aircraft. Later during a records check, it was discovered that the wrong series esu had been installed.
