Narrative:

Possible violation los angeles flight rules area. I did not announce on 128.55 upon entering the area, I only monitored. After leaving special flight rules area, I did not call socal approach. I called vny tower and received a transponder squawk and was told to make straight-in to runway 34L. When I arrived I was informed of my mistake. Possible causes: 1) unfamiliar with area. 2) mistuning to vny ATIS. 3) told by instructor that I could not use my LORAN or GPS. 4) not being told of destination before takeoff.

Title: A C182 PLT WITH AN INSTRUCTOR FAILS TO FOLLOW THE COM PROCS FOR THE VFR CORRIDOR WITHIN THE LAX SPECIAL FLT RULES AREA WHILE PROCEEDING TO VNY, CA.

Narrative: POSSIBLE VIOLATION LOS ANGELES FLT RULES AREA. I DID NOT ANNOUNCE ON 128.55 UPON ENTERING THE AREA, I ONLY MONITORED. AFTER LEAVING SPECIAL FLT RULES AREA, I DID NOT CALL SOCAL APCH. I CALLED VNY TWR AND RECEIVED A XPONDER SQUAWK AND WAS TOLD TO MAKE STRAIGHT-IN TO RWY 34L. WHEN I ARRIVED I WAS INFORMED OF MY MISTAKE. POSSIBLE CAUSES: 1) UNFAMILIAR WITH AREA. 2) MISTUNING TO VNY ATIS. 3) TOLD BY INSTRUCTOR THAT I COULD NOT USE MY LORAN OR GPS. 4) NOT BEING TOLD OF DEST BEFORE TKOF.
