Narrative:
Large hawk struck nose of aircraft at 1000 ft AGL and 1.5 DME of runway 5R on 060 degree heading. The airplane seemed normal, but I elected to remain low and slow and to do all checklists and return to ewr and land overweight. After landing, we found about 2 ft square of radome severely cracked and maintenance replaced it.
