Narrative:

Tower controller cleared us for takeoff on runway 13L from hold short position. We did not delay, normal takeoff procedures were used. As I began setting takeoff power the tower said on frequency, 'air carrier flight abcd make good time on the roll.' both the first officer and I heard this. After initial climb as tower handed us off to departure control he said 'you need to have your radios checked, I tired to cancel your takeoff clearance.' (an air carrier jet was on final to runway 17L, the approach path crosses over runway 13L.) it worked out ok. We both never heard any takeoff cancellation from the tower only the 'make good time' on takeoff roll. We feel the radio trouble was in the tower cabin attendant not in our aircraft.

Narrative: TWR CTLR CLRED US FOR TKOF ON RWY 13L FROM HOLD SHORT POS. WE DID NOT DELAY, NORMAL TKOF PROCS WERE USED. AS I BEGAN SETTING TKOF PWR THE TWR SAID ON FREQ, 'ACR FLT ABCD MAKE GOOD TIME ON THE ROLL.' BOTH THE FO AND I HEARD THIS. AFTER INITIAL CLB AS TWR HANDED US OFF TO DEP CTL HE SAID 'YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR RADIOS CHKED, I TIRED TO CANCEL YOUR TKOF CLRNC.' (AN ACR JET WAS ON FINAL TO RWY 17L, THE APCH PATH CROSSES OVER RWY 13L.) IT WORKED OUT OK. WE BOTH NEVER HEARD ANY TKOF CANCELLATION FROM THE TWR ONLY THE 'MAKE GOOD TIME' ON TKOF ROLL. WE FEEL THE RADIO TROUBLE WAS IN THE TWR CAB NOT IN OUR ACFT.
