Narrative:

Arriving from iah on flight xyz we were cleared to land on runway 17L behind an air carrier abc saab 340. The saab cleared runway 17L on the second high speed taxiway Q7. He was told by tower to taxi north on taxiway Q. The first officer and I noted this and I verbalized to him that I would take the second high speed taxiway Q7 as well, since taking the first high speed taxiway Q6 would create a collision hazard. As we landed, we taxied past taxiway Q6 just as the air carrier abc saab was arriving to taxi past us going north on taxiway Q. Had we not been as situationally aware, or if it had been IMC, night, or other low visibility, we may have not been aware of the hazard and collided at taxiway Q6 with the air carrier abc flight. Tower never told us to take the second high speed, or made us aware of air carrier abc's northbound taxi. Later that day on flight xyy, again from iah, we were cleared to land on runway 17L behind an air carrier abc ATR. Once again, the ATR was told to taxi north on taxiway Q from the second high speed taxiway Q7. No mention of the hazard was made to us by the tower, and by now it was nightfall. Again, we recognized the hazard and passed the first high speed for the second taxiway Q7 to avoid any possible collision hazard. These two incidents are a potential grave danger on runway 17L, and could be easily remedied by having all aircraft clearing runway 17L on taxiway Q7 taxi west on taxiway er to avoid a northbound taxi on taxiway Q which creates a collision hazard at taxiway Q6.

Title: EMB120 COMPLAINS OF PERCEIVED COLLISION HAZARD WITH PREVIOUSLY LANDED TFC OFF RWY 17L, DFW.

Narrative: ARRIVING FROM IAH ON FLT XYZ WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 17L BEHIND AN ACR ABC SAAB 340. THE SAAB CLRED RWY 17L ON THE SECOND HIGH SPD TXWY Q7. HE WAS TOLD BY TWR TO TAXI N ON TXWY Q. THE FO AND I NOTED THIS AND I VERBALIZED TO HIM THAT I WOULD TAKE THE SECOND HIGH SPD TXWY Q7 AS WELL, SINCE TAKING THE FIRST HIGH SPEED TXWY Q6 WOULD CREATE A COLLISION HAZARD. AS WE LANDED, WE TAXIED PAST TXWY Q6 JUST AS THE ACR ABC SAAB WAS ARRIVING TO TAXI PAST US GOING N ON TXWY Q. HAD WE NOT BEEN AS SITUATIONALLY AWARE, OR IF IT HAD BEEN IMC, NIGHT, OR OTHER LOW VISIBILITY, WE MAY HAVE NOT BEEN AWARE OF THE HAZARD AND COLLIDED AT TXWY Q6 WITH THE ACR ABC FLT. TWR NEVER TOLD US TO TAKE THE SECOND HIGH SPD, OR MADE US AWARE OF ACR ABC'S NBOUND TAXI. LATER THAT DAY ON FLT XYY, AGAIN FROM IAH, WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 17L BEHIND AN ACR ABC ATR. ONCE AGAIN, THE ATR WAS TOLD TO TAXI N ON TXWY Q FROM THE SECOND HIGH SPEED TXWY Q7. NO MENTION OF THE HAZARD WAS MADE TO US BY THE TWR, AND BY NOW IT WAS NIGHTFALL. AGAIN, WE RECOGNIZED THE HAZARD AND PASSED THE FIRST HIGH SPD FOR THE SECOND TXWY Q7 TO AVOID ANY POSSIBLE COLLISION HAZARD. THESE TWO INCIDENTS ARE A POTENTIAL GRAVE DANGER ON RWY 17L, AND COULD BE EASILY REMEDIED BY HAVING ALL ACFT CLRING RWY 17L ON TXWY Q7 TAXI W ON TXWY ER TO AVOID A NBOUND TAXI ON TXWY Q WHICH CREATES A COLLISION HAZARD AT TXWY Q6.
