Narrative:

We were at FL390 but due to a rough ride, we requested FL350. ZOA cleared us to FL350. We were descending at 1000 FPM. Passing FL367, we received a TCASII yellow TA. It was for opposite direction traffic at FL370. The closest we came was 300 ft vertical, and about 4 mi horizontal. No evasive action was taken. At that same time we increased descent rate to 2500 FPM. Also, ZOA turned us 30 degrees left away from the traffic. We leveled at FL350 and were cleared back on course. I believe that ZOA failed to give us proper horizontal separation during our descent.

Narrative: WE WERE AT FL390 BUT DUE TO A ROUGH RIDE, WE REQUESTED FL350. ZOA CLRED US TO FL350. WE WERE DSNDING AT 1000 FPM. PASSING FL367, WE RECEIVED A TCASII YELLOW TA. IT WAS FOR OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC AT FL370. THE CLOSEST WE CAME WAS 300 FT VERT, AND ABOUT 4 MI HORIZ. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN. AT THAT SAME TIME WE INCREASED DSCNT RATE TO 2500 FPM. ALSO, ZOA TURNED US 30 DEGS L AWAY FROM THE TFC. WE LEVELED AT FL350 AND WERE CLRED BACK ON COURSE. I BELIEVE THAT ZOA FAILED TO GIVE US PROPER HORIZ SEPARATION DURING OUR DSCNT.
