Narrative:

Holding over okk VOR, got a horizon light due to headings being off. Autoplt disengaged automatically. Hand flew until headings were in agreement and on altitude. When autoplt was re-engaged, the altitude shot up to FL264 for a few seconds until autoplt could be disengaged and hand flown back down to FL260. No comment from ZID. Did not observe any other conflicting aircraft near us on TCASII. Difficult to fly 10 mi legs with 96 KT wind from west in depicted holding pattern.

Title: AN MD-S80 CREW, HOLDING OVER OKK VOR, ENCOUNTERED A 96 KT XWIND AND WERE COMPENSATING WHEN THE AUTOPLT KICKED OFF AFTER IT SENSED THE DIFFERENCE IN HDGS. THEY RE-ENGAGED THE AUTOPLT AND THE ACFT CLBED ABOVE THEIR ASSIGNED ALT BY 400 FT.

WHEN AUTOPLT WAS RE-ENGAGED, THE ALT SHOT UP TO FL264 FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL AUTOPLT COULD BE DISENGAGED AND HAND FLOWN BACK DOWN TO FL260. NO COMMENT FROM ZID. DID NOT OBSERVE ANY OTHER CONFLICTING ACFT NEAR US ON TCASII. DIFFICULT TO FLY 10 MI LEGS WITH 96 KT WIND FROM W IN DEPICTED HOLDING PATTERN.
