Narrative:

25 yr old autoplt armed with altitude (13000 ft) preselected, on radar vectors to ventura with 13000 ft leveloff assigned. At +/-12900 ft, owner asked question of pilot while copilot was working with navigation gear. Pilot noticed altimeter passing 13200 ft and leveled -- almost. Just then, ATC cleared aircraft to FL220, and asked for current altitude. Copilot stated it was 13000 ft, to which controller stated that his display showed 13300 ft, which it probably was. At that point, pilot continued climb from 13300 ft to FL220 without incident, by hand flying the aircraft.

Title: DA10 CREW OVERSHOOTS ALT NEAR SXC.

Narrative: 25 YR OLD AUTOPLT ARMED WITH ALT (13000 FT) PRESELECTED, ON RADAR VECTORS TO VENTURA WITH 13000 FT LEVELOFF ASSIGNED. AT +/-12900 FT, OWNER ASKED QUESTION OF PLT WHILE COPLT WAS WORKING WITH NAV GEAR. PLT NOTICED ALTIMETER PASSING 13200 FT AND LEVELED -- ALMOST. JUST THEN, ATC CLRED ACFT TO FL220, AND ASKED FOR CURRENT ALT. COPLT STATED IT WAS 13000 FT, TO WHICH CTLR STATED THAT HIS DISPLAY SHOWED 13300 FT, WHICH IT PROBABLY WAS. AT THAT POINT, PLT CONTINUED CLB FROM 13300 FT TO FL220 WITHOUT INCIDENT, BY HAND FLYING THE ACFT.
