Narrative:

Was PF on approach to runway 17L at dfw. At 1500 ft AGL, asked for gear down and before landing checks. On the checklist we noted that the left main gear was not in the 'green.' at 700 ft AGL, I commanded a go around and we did so. We returned to approach and executed a low approach over runway 17C with tower and followed our company operations and emergency checklist. Tower said gear appeared down so we decided to still declare an emergency and landed runway 17L at dfw with no incident and taxied to the gate.
