Narrative:

A DC9 passed 600 ft above and behind us during climb out. Departure control asked us to keep the DC9 in sight and the DC9 to keep us in sight. TCASII advised to shallow out our climb, which we did, before the warning (not to stop our climb). We had the DC9 in sight at all times and kept visual separation as best as we could, but the speed of the DC9 was fast and closing on us. All our exterior lights were illuminated. We did try to increase our airspeed to move further west out of its way, but it seemed as if the DC9 remained on a collision course with us.

Title: A SAAB 340 FLC HAD A DC9 PASS BEHIND AND OVER IT ON DEP FROM MEM.

Narrative: A DC9 PASSED 600 FT ABOVE AND BEHIND US DURING CLBOUT. DEP CTL ASKED US TO KEEP THE DC9 IN SIGHT AND THE DC9 TO KEEP US IN SIGHT. TCASII ADVISED TO SHALLOW OUT OUR CLB, WHICH WE DID, BEFORE THE WARNING (NOT TO STOP OUR CLB). WE HAD THE DC9 IN SIGHT AT ALL TIMES AND KEPT VISUAL SEPARATION AS BEST AS WE COULD, BUT THE SPD OF THE DC9 WAS FAST AND CLOSING ON US. ALL OUR EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. WE DID TRY TO INCREASE OUR AIRSPD TO MOVE FURTHER W OUT OF ITS WAY, BUT IT SEEMED AS IF THE DC9 REMAINED ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH US.
