Narrative:

In tegucigalpa (mhtg), it was called to my attention that there was damage in the lower cargo compartment. Pipes that were loaded in miami caused the damage. Communications in tegucigalpa were down and I was unable to advise miami of the situation. The station manager brought the company mechanic to inspect the damage. The mechanic made a temporary repair and I was told that the airplane was safe to fly back to miami. After I was informed that the airplane was ready and assuming that the logbook was already signed, I depart to miami with a stop in san pedro de sula (mhlm). This leg was only 28 mins from takeoff to landing and we didn't open the logbook. In our way back to miami when we were going to fill in the times, I noticed that the mechanic didn't sign the logbook after the temporary repair.
