Narrative:

I received a taxi clearance from ground control. I was taxiing from the cargo area to runway 23R. My first clearance was to taxi on taxiway J and hold short of taxiway K. After the other aircraft had passed I was given further clearance to taxi past taxiway K and onto taxiway a, then to make a right at taxiway left to taxiway west onto runway 28 hold short of runway 23L. As I was on taxiway a looking for taxiway left the controller restated my clearance to taxi on taxiway left to taxiway west onto runway 28 and hold short of runway 23L. As I was reading back the clearance, I passed taxiway left and also passed the hold lines for runway 23L, the active landing runway. As I passed the hold lines I noticed my mistake and stopped as the alert controller also informed me of my mistake. From this spot I made a 180 degree and the remainder of the taxi and flight was uneventful. I believe the mistake would not have happened had the controller not restated the clearance. I also believe that if I had been more familiar with the airport this would not have happened. When the controller restated the clearance, I was more concerned with a quick readback than paying attention to what I was doing. I understand there have been taxi problems with the taxi portion from taxiway west onto runway 28 and holding short of runway 23L. I believe that the controller was attempting to make sure I had no problems there when it turned out I had problems elsewhere.

Title: A FREIGHTER PLT FLYING A C208 AT CLE TAXIED ONTO ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT ATC CLRNC.

Narrative: I RECEIVED A TAXI CLRNC FROM GND CTL. I WAS TAXIING FROM THE CARGO AREA TO RWY 23R. MY FIRST CLRNC WAS TO TAXI ON TXWY J AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY K. AFTER THE OTHER ACFT HAD PASSED I WAS GIVEN FURTHER CLRNC TO TAXI PAST TXWY K AND ONTO TXWY A, THEN TO MAKE A R AT TXWY L TO TXWY W ONTO RWY 28 HOLD SHORT OF RWY 23L. AS I WAS ON TXWY A LOOKING FOR TXWY L THE CTLR RESTATED MY CLRNC TO TAXI ON TXWY L TO TXWY W ONTO RWY 28 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 23L. AS I WAS READING BACK THE CLRNC, I PASSED TXWY L AND ALSO PASSED THE HOLD LINES FOR RWY 23L, THE ACTIVE LNDG RWY. AS I PASSED THE HOLD LINES I NOTICED MY MISTAKE AND STOPPED AS THE ALERT CTLR ALSO INFORMED ME OF MY MISTAKE. FROM THIS SPOT I MADE A 180 DEG AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TAXI AND FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. I BELIEVE THE MISTAKE WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE CTLR NOT RESTATED THE CLRNC. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IF I HAD BEEN MORE FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. WHEN THE CTLR RESTATED THE CLRNC, I WAS MORE CONCERNED WITH A QUICK READBACK THAN PAYING ATTN TO WHAT I WAS DOING. I UNDERSTAND THERE HAVE BEEN TAXI PROBS WITH THE TAXI PORTION FROM TXWY W ONTO RWY 28 AND HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 23L. I BELIEVE THAT THE CTLR WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE SURE I HAD NO PROBS THERE WHEN IT TURNED OUT I HAD PROBS ELSEWHERE.
