Narrative:

Advised by ATC to enter downwind for runway 33 at about 6 mi out and report at 2 mi. Reported at 2 mi, but due to frequency congestion reported again at 1 mi north of field on downwind. ATC responded, 'follow barron on 2 mi final for runway 33.' at northwest end of runway 33, observed plane overflying runway 33. Continued on downwind to water tower which is usual landmark for turning base. Called tower, 'is X clear for runway 33?' tower responded 'X clear for runway 33.' turned back, and upon turning final, tower called 'X verify you have traffic in sight.' responded 'X is on final.' tower responded 'X clear land runway 33,' 'Y slow it down follow cessna that got in front of you.' landed on runway 33 and expedited turnoff. At the time of the incident, there was additional traffic landing at other runways, and in pattern for other runways. Call to verify clearance was made while on downwind and response from tower was 'clear for runway 33' -- no mention was made of additional traffic, or to follow traffic, or #2 for runway. At that time, only clear to land.'

Narrative: ADVISED BY ATC TO ENTER DOWNWIND FOR RWY 33 AT ABOUT 6 MI OUT AND RPT AT 2 MI. RPTED AT 2 MI, BUT DUE TO FREQ CONGESTION RPTED AGAIN AT 1 MI N OF FIELD ON DOWNWIND.
