Narrative:

On taxiing to the active runway, I noticed a ground crew that was working on landing lights/signs around the runway on a fairly busy saturday. Performed runup while I watched these 3 individuals darting back and forth. I thought this was quite dangerous. I was about to show the student a short field takeoff. The ground crew was very attentive to landing traffic, so I planned to get on the runway as soon as possible after landing traffic. An arrow landed and I pulled onto the runway watching the ground crew. They stayed on the left edge and I discussed the use of flaps, speeds and technique with my student. I accelerated the airplane. As soon as I rotated, I noticed that the piper arrow had not exited the runway. Total brain lapse about the whereabouts of the arrow. I immediately turned away from the runway and missed the plane handily, but I'm sure the arrow pilot was miffed.
