Narrative:
After picking up my plane, I flew to anb to test new ADF. I requested bhm approach for VFR ILS approach to anb. After the approach, I did not switch back to approach frequency and notify bhm that the anb approach was clear. Problem arose because I was distraction by checking out new and recalibrated avionics. Bhm approach called my home airport and checked on my status. In the future, I will be sure approach is aware when I complete an IFR procedure.
