Narrative:

On descent on autoplt, was distraction making turn at intersection (no FMS on our DC9's). Inadvertently descended to 11800 ft, momentarily. Climbed right back to 12000 ft. ATC did ask our altitude, we were at 12000 ft when they asked. No conflicts with other airplanes. If ATC did not give dscnts right before turns in airway with non FMS airplanes, it would help.

Narrative: ON DSCNT ON AUTOPLT, WAS DISTR MAKING TURN AT INTXN (NO FMS ON OUR DC9'S). INADVERTENTLY DSNDED TO 11800 FT, MOMENTARILY. CLBED RIGHT BACK TO 12000 FT. ATC DID ASK OUR ALT, WE WERE AT 12000 FT WHEN THEY ASKED. NO CONFLICTS WITH OTHER AIRPLANES. IF ATC DID NOT GIVE DSCNTS RIGHT BEFORE TURNS IN AIRWAY WITH NON FMS AIRPLANES, IT WOULD HELP.
