Narrative:

Was issued a descent from 6000 ft to 4000 ft. Upon reaching 4000 ft, the approach controller said he issued 5000 ft. We immediately climbed to 5000 ft. No TCASII event, no traffic close by. Unsure if ATC or flight crew misunderstood clearance or readback.

Title: A DSNDING FALCON 900 OVERSHOOTS ITS ASSIGNED ALT WHEN THE CREW THOUGHT THEY HEARD 4000 FT VERSUS 5000 FT 25 NM NE OF FTY, GA.

Narrative: WAS ISSUED A DSCNT FROM 6000 FT TO 4000 FT. UPON REACHING 4000 FT, THE APCH CTLR SAID HE ISSUED 5000 FT. WE IMMEDIATELY CLBED TO 5000 FT. NO TCASII EVENT, NO TFC CLOSE BY. UNSURE IF ATC OR FLC MISUNDERSTOOD CLRNC OR READBACK.
