Narrative:

Taxiing for takeoff runway 36R at clt. Switched from ground control to tower and reported ready for takeoff. Tower stated 'fly runway heading, cleared for takeoff, there's a B737 on a 5 mi final.' as I turned onto the runway, there was a bizjet in position approximately 2000 ft down the runway. He was making an intersection takeoff and the takeoff clearance was in fact for him. We had not heard the tower put the bizjet into position because we were still on ground control, nor had we seen it because it was behind us. Although we read back our takeoff clearance, the tower said nothing. We cleared the runway, the bizjet took off, the B737 landed, then we took off.

Narrative: TAXIING FOR TKOF RWY 36R AT CLT. SWITCHED FROM GND CTL TO TWR AND RPTED READY FOR TKOF. TWR STATED 'FLY RWY HDG, CLRED FOR TKOF, THERE'S A B737 ON A 5 MI FINAL.' AS I TURNED ONTO THE RWY, THERE WAS A BIZJET IN POS APPROX 2000 FT DOWN THE RWY. HE WAS MAKING AN INTXN TKOF AND THE TKOF CLRNC WAS IN FACT FOR HIM. WE HAD NOT HEARD THE TWR PUT THE BIZJET INTO POS BECAUSE WE WERE STILL ON GND CTL, NOR HAD WE SEEN IT BECAUSE IT WAS BEHIND US. ALTHOUGH WE READ BACK OUR TKOF CLRNC, THE TWR SAID NOTHING. WE CLRED THE RWY, THE BIZJET TOOK OFF, THE B737 LANDED, THEN WE TOOK OFF.
