Narrative:

During taxi out at the gate at pvd, ground instructed 'taxi via taxiway C, hold short at taxiway K, then cleared to cross runway 5R to runway 34.' I misjudged runway 34 as runway 5R and continued straight ahead. While first officer's head was down running checklist, looked up and stopped the aircraft at least approximately 10 ft prior to the actual runway. Tower directed a cessna go around on final of runway 34. Runway 34 and runway 5R and taxiway C all intersected each other. It will be very helpful if additional signage is put on taxiway C prior to taxiway K to indicate runway 34 is straight ahead.

Title: CESSNA GOES AROUND WHEN BA4100 MISSES TURN AND TAXIES ONTO LNDG RWY.

Narrative: DURING TAXI OUT AT THE GATE AT PVD, GND INSTRUCTED 'TAXI VIA TXWY C, HOLD SHORT AT TXWY K, THEN CLRED TO CROSS RWY 5R TO RWY 34.' I MISJUDGED RWY 34 AS RWY 5R AND CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD. WHILE FO'S HEAD WAS DOWN RUNNING CHKLIST, LOOKED UP AND STOPPED THE ACFT AT LEAST APPROX 10 FT PRIOR TO THE ACTUAL RWY. TWR DIRECTED A CESSNA GAR ON FINAL OF RWY 34. RWY 34 AND RWY 5R AND TXWY C ALL INTERSECTED EACH OTHER. IT WILL BE VERY HELPFUL IF ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE IS PUT ON TXWY C PRIOR TO TXWY K TO INDICATE RWY 34 IS STRAIGHT AHEAD.
