Narrative:

Location: ewr ramp. Ewr ramp cleared us to enter taxiway to park at gate. No warning of an unlit aircraft at almost XA00 local was given. The aircraft was a DC9 that was parked on the taxi line. There were no position lights and there were no external lights to mark the aircraft. Looking around the ramp areas it appeared that other aircraft were also parked outside of parking areas without any lighting.

Narrative: LOCATION: EWR RAMP. EWR RAMP CLRED US TO ENTER TXWY TO PARK AT GATE. NO WARNING OF AN UNLIT ACFT AT ALMOST XA00 LCL WAS GIVEN. THE ACFT WAS A DC9 THAT WAS PARKED ON THE TAXI LINE. THERE WERE NO POS LIGHTS AND THERE WERE NO EXTERNAL LIGHTS TO MARK THE ACFT. LOOKING AROUND THE RAMP AREAS IT APPEARED THAT OTHER ACFT WERE ALSO PARKED OUTSIDE OF PARKING AREAS WITHOUT ANY LIGHTING.
