Narrative:

Air carrier 1X was swbound climbing to FL350. Aircraft was on another frequency. Air carrier 1Y was swbound at FL330 approximately 8 mi northeast of air carrier 2. Aircraft Z was northeast on a vector for additional traffic at FL330. Air carrier 1X advised he could be level in 2 mins which was prior to confliction with air carrier 2X. Pilot then advised he would not be able to level in prescribed time. Controller turned air carrier 1X to heading 340 degrees which placed him in confliction with air carrier 1Y. This was not the action I would have done to resolve conflict with air carrier 2X, so I was caught off guard and was slow to issue a turn to air carrier 1Y. By the time I did issue a turn it was too late to maintain separation. In the future I will make sure both myself and another controller understand and agree upon an alternate plan of action.

Title: SEPARATION WAS LOST BTWN ACFT X AND ACFT Y.

Narrative: ACR 1X WAS SWBOUND CLBING TO FL350. ACFT WAS ON ANOTHER FREQ. ACR 1Y WAS SWBOUND AT FL330 APPROX 8 MI NE OF ACR 2. ACFT Z WAS NE ON A VECTOR FOR ADDITIONAL TFC AT FL330. ACR 1X ADVISED HE COULD BE LEVEL IN 2 MINS WHICH WAS PRIOR TO CONFLICTION WITH ACR 2X. PLT THEN ADVISED HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LEVEL IN PRESCRIBED TIME. CTLR TURNED ACR 1X TO HEADING 340 DEGS WHICH PLACED HIM IN CONFLICTION WITH ACR 1Y. THIS WAS NOT THE ACTION I WOULD HAVE DONE TO RESOLVE CONFLICT WITH ACR 2X, SO I WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD AND WAS SLOW TO ISSUE A TURN TO ACR 1Y. BY THE TIME I DID ISSUE A TURN IT WAS TOO LATE TO MAINTAIN SEPARATION. IN THE FUTURE I WILL MAKE SURE BOTH MYSELF AND ANOTHER CTLR UNDERSTAND AND AGREE UPON AN ALTERNATE PLAN OF ACTION.
