Narrative:

On a southerly heading from houston, we were given a 130 degree heading to intercept the scholes (vuh) 085 degree radial. We entered the FMC identify for scholes and were starting a turn to intercept. We contacted the next controller who commanded a right 30 degree turn. We were faced with a traffic alert which became a traffic resolution requesting a descent. Off the autoplt, descending less than 300 ft, we received a clear of traffic message. We climbed back to 15000 ft, our assigned altitude.
