Narrative:

On the morning of jun/xa/99, we departed into iln (private airport) on flight ewr-iln. This was the first officer's leg to fly, and I assumed the role of support pilot. The WX was: 270 degrees 13 KTS 4 SM tsra overcast 005. This WX condition should not present a problem and therefore I continued my role as a support pilot. The arrs in iln were backed up and ATC instructed us to hold at limps at 14000 ft for approximately 15 mins. From that point we received radar vectors for a straight in approach to runway 22L which kept us slightly high and rushed on the somewhat rough and turbulent final descent. Unfortunately day approach control did not hand us over to iln tower. Between monitoring the flight path and airspeed, responding to checklists and talking to day approach, I neglected to request a hand over from day approach, which resulted in landing at iln without proper landing clearance.

Title: DC8 CREW LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: ON THE MORNING OF JUN/XA/99, WE DEPARTED INTO ILN (PVT ARPT) ON FLT EWR-ILN. THIS WAS THE FO'S LEG TO FLY, AND I ASSUMED THE ROLE OF SUPPORT PLT. THE WX WAS: 270 DEGS 13 KTS 4 SM TSRA OVCST 005. THIS WX CONDITION SHOULD NOT PRESENT A PROB AND THEREFORE I CONTINUED MY ROLE AS A SUPPORT PLT. THE ARRS IN ILN WERE BACKED UP AND ATC INSTRUCTED US TO HOLD AT LIMPS AT 14000 FT FOR APPROX 15 MINS. FROM THAT POINT WE RECEIVED RADAR VECTORS FOR A STRAIGHT IN APCH TO RWY 22L WHICH KEPT US SLIGHTLY HIGH AND RUSHED ON THE SOMEWHAT ROUGH AND TURBULENT FINAL DSCNT. UNFORTUNATELY DAY APCH CTL DID NOT HAND US OVER TO ILN TWR. BTWN MONITORING THE FLT PATH AND AIRSPD, RESPONDING TO CHKLISTS AND TALKING TO DAY APCH, I NEGLECTED TO REQUEST A HAND OVER FROM DAY APCH, WHICH RESULTED IN LNDG AT ILN WITHOUT PROPER LNDG CLRNC.
