Narrative:

Received an aural TCASII advisory warning, followed by RA to climb, followed by a continuous warning to increase rate of climb. As I climbed through 6000 ft to approximately 6300 ft, advised ATC. They reported no traffic in our area on their monitors. TCASII display still showed a red warning pyramid to continue climb. After deciding with the copilot it was a nuisance advisory, decided to descend to 6000 ft with approach clearance. TCASII was turned off to quiet the distractive nuisance advisory and another approach and landing to atl. Advised approach control, company operations, dispatcher, maintenance by telephone, logbook entry made. TCASII was put on maintenance carryover and considered inoperative.
