Narrative:

We were waiting to fly from slc to geg. The plane was late due to WX. Repairs were made on gear warning system and we departed after they were finished. After takeoff, a loud noise came from the nose of the aircraft. Autofail light and air conditioning master caution light came on. No other lights were illuminated on the master caution display. The airplane did not pressurize and we elected to return to slc. We entered the traffic pattern under tower control, accomplished all checklists, and landed. On our return to the gate, the mechanic reported that the electronic bay door had not sealed correctly after being opened for the previous maintenance. Door was inspected and secured. Door warning light was adjusted and we left. We subsequently determined that we had landed about 1100 pounds over maximum landing weight and should have had an inspection before departure.
