Narrative:

While climbing to our assigned altitude, we were advised of traffic at about 12 O'clock whose altitude we would be climbing through. We received a TCASII RA to 'descend' and did not have the traffic in sight. The traffic also reported that they did not have us in sight. We descended about 500 ft, at which time we did get the traffic visually, and resumed our climb. While we did not seem as close visually as the TCASII led us to believe, a slight turn by ATC might have eased our passenger ride.

Title: MLG CREW HAD TCASII RA DEPARTING AUS.

Narrative: WHILE CLBING TO OUR ASSIGNED ALT, WE WERE ADVISED OF TFC AT ABOUT 12 O'CLOCK WHOSE ALT WE WOULD BE CLBING THROUGH. WE RECEIVED A TCASII RA TO 'DSND' AND DID NOT HAVE THE TFC IN SIGHT. THE TFC ALSO RPTED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE US IN SIGHT. WE DSNDED ABOUT 500 FT, AT WHICH TIME WE DID GET THE TFC VISUALLY, AND RESUMED OUR CLB. WHILE WE DID NOT SEEM AS CLOSE VISUALLY AS THE TCASII LED US TO BELIEVE, A SLIGHT TURN BY ATC MIGHT HAVE EASED OUR PAX RIDE.
