Narrative:

Due to weak radio transmission/reception, had overhead speaker volume up. However, this subsequently caused xcockpit squeal on xmissions. Captain turned speaker volume down to alleviate. Floater went to headset/boom microphone. Removed this later to eat. When lack of overhead radio traffic was noticed, made call to london control who advised he had been attempting contact for 7 mins.

Title: ACR FLC INADVERTENTLY WOUND UP WITH NOBODY WEARING A HEADSET AND COCKPIT SPEAKER TURNED DOWN RESULTING IN SHORT PERIOD OF BEING 'OFF FREQ.'

Narrative: DUE TO WEAK RADIO XMISSION/RECEPTION, HAD OVERHEAD SPEAKER VOLUME UP. HOWEVER, THIS SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSED XCOCKPIT SQUEAL ON XMISSIONS. CAPT TURNED SPEAKER VOLUME DOWN TO ALLEVIATE.
