Narrative:

On approach to smf, normal flight, night, VMC, some light turbulence en route, all checklists complied with. Captain was PF. Upon call for gear down we received both mains green, no nose gear indication. We recycled gear and received left main green, 1/2 nose indication illuminated green, no right main indication. We recycled gear again and received same indication. We initiated a go around and ran QRH checklists. Captain flew and ran radios. Approach control provided vectors and terrain clearance. I apprised flight attendants of situation and told them to prepare for emergency landing and possible, but not probable evacuate/evacuation. Captain declared emergency. QRH complied with, and visual port in cabin utilized to verify right gear down and locked. Several low level (500 ft AGL) fly-by's made to get confirmation of gear down. (Difficulties to get confirmation encountered due to darkness.) just prior to landing, company called to advise us to fly to oak (big maintenance base). We declined, landing uneventful. Ground personnel unable to lock gear doors up for taxi in. We repressurized system, brought doors up and taxied to gate. After securing aircraft, we found right gear door back on ground. The landing had apparently torn off the door skid and uplock latch. Door skin was also abraded. No other apparent damage. No injuries reported.
