Narrative:

Frequency: 135.77, FL310, ZLC. Approximately 100 mi southeast mtu. Approximately 2 hours 30 mins into flight, flight engineer reported that #1 and #2 fill valves had closed while auxiliary fuel tank feeding, resulting in fuel imbal well out of limits. Rebalanced fuel and corrected fuel panel in accordance with operations manual. Contacted dispatch and maintenance to confirm ok to continue to destination. No abnormal flight controls. Wrote up in E6 logbook. Imbal created rather quickly and shows importance of captain checking tank gauges as well as totalizer as backup to flight engineer.
