Narrative:

On climb out from dtw, passing through 17000 ft for cruise altitude of FL220, we entered an area of light to moderate rain. Static charges along with st elmo's fire were present. A loud sharp crack was heard and we believed the charges had discharged. No damage was noted and no instruments or system affected. As the WX was now better between our present position and destination (ind) I elected to proceed to ind. The incident was documented in the maintenance logbook and upon maintenance inspection, an area under the first officer's window had indication of a lightning strike.
