Narrative:

Captain requested flight attendants remain seated during turbulence encounter. Captain prebriefed flight attendants prior to flight regarding same. 20 mins into turbulence encounter, captain called flight attendants to check on cabin. Discovered that flight attendants were up serving beverages to passenger. During this time, captain was adamant about staying seated -- including why the flight attendants would not be able to serve them promptly. It must be very confusing to see the flight attendants walking about while the captain is asking everyone to remain seated. The flight attendants in question have been counseled and made to understand the dangers and importance of following the captain's directives. This is not the first occurrence. When the flight attendants are asked why they feel so compelled to get up, the reply is they fear retaliation from the company when they fail to serve the passenger in a timely manner. I believe marketing and flight services must address this issue as soon as possible.
