Narrative:

I was assigned 8000 ft and inadvertently climbed to 8300 ft. A contributing factor was a conversation with a passenger and fatigue. I descended back to 8000 ft when advised by ZDC. I was being handed off to rdu departure at the time and rdu also advised me of my altitude.
