Narrative:

Our B757, a full 5 mi behind a company A300 (as noted by tower and on the TCASII screen), approximately 160 KIAS on autoplt, received a rapid nose down pitch and accompanying left wing down roll. Immediately disconnected autoplt, input right rudder and nose up, advancing throttles and maintaining altitude. The point of this report is that it is obvious that the requisite 5 mi separation behind a heavy jet is not enough.
