Narrative:

Socal approach had cleared us for a visual approach to runway 24L at lax. After switching to tower frequency at the OM, we were requested to land and cleared to do so on runway 25R. We were at a safe enough altitude to maneuver the aircraft over and began lining up with runway 25R. As we approached runway 25R and were about abeam the center of the airport (north to south), the controller frantically cleared us back to land on now runway 24R. He had traffic that he wanted to put on runway 24L for takeoff and in his busy state mistakenly cleared us to land on runway 25R instead of what he had intended on runway 24R. Our thoughts after landing on runway 24R without any further difficulties were that the tower controllers needed to be very careful with their runway terminologies as well as we needed to clarify the unusual runway change from runway 24L to runway 25R which almost never occurs inside the OM.

Title: RPTR'S ACFT WAS GIVEN A CLRNC TO LAX RWY 24L, THEN WAS MISTAKENLY GIVEN ANOTHER CLRNC TO RWY 25R. A SHORT TIME LATER, CTLR REALIZED THE MISTAKE AND RECLRED ACFT TO RWY 24R.

Narrative: SOCAL APCH HAD CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 24L AT LAX. AFTER SWITCHING TO TWR FREQ AT THE OM, WE WERE REQUESTED TO LAND AND CLRED TO DO SO ON RWY 25R. WE WERE AT A SAFE ENOUGH ALT TO MANEUVER THE ACFT OVER AND BEGAN LINING UP WITH RWY 25R. AS WE APCHED RWY 25R AND WERE ABOUT ABEAM THE CTR OF THE ARPT (N TO S), THE CTLR FRANTICALLY CLRED US BACK TO LAND ON NOW RWY 24R. HE HAD TFC THAT HE WANTED TO PUT ON RWY 24L FOR TKOF AND IN HIS BUSY STATE MISTAKENLY CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 25R INSTEAD OF WHAT HE HAD INTENDED ON RWY 24R. OUR THOUGHTS AFTER LNDG ON RWY 24R WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DIFFICULTIES WERE THAT THE TWR CTLRS NEEDED TO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THEIR RWY TERMINOLOGIES AS WELL AS WE NEEDED TO CLARIFY THE UNUSUAL RWY CHANGE FROM RWY 24L TO RWY 25R WHICH ALMOST NEVER OCCURS INSIDE THE OM.
