Narrative:

I had started up and monitored unicom (123.00) for about 5 mins and had told an incoming aircraft about 10 mi out that runway 18 was the active runway. At approximately XA15 I taxied to the hold short line on the midfield taxiway, looked down both runways and saw no traffic on either final, announced back taxi on runway 18 and taxied. When I was 1/2 way down the runway towards the approach end of runway 18, a piper cherokee (not the aircraft I had earlier notified of the active runway) went by 100 ft above and 100 ft to the west on a go around. He radioed to ask if I had seen him on final, and I replied that I had not, and that he was landing downwind out of the sun and had not announced his position on downwind, base or final for runway 36. I believe that I did not see the aircraft for the 3 reasons noted above. A good lesson for all in this matter is that we should use our radios at uncontrolled fields and that we all should use the active runway that everyone else is using. I was definitely at fault for not seeing the cherokee, and I believe that this was because he was in or near the sun while on an unannounced final approach. If I had heard him announce on final, I would certainly have held at the hold short line and let him land.

Title: ONE ACFT GOES AROUND AS SECOND ACFT PREPARES FOR TKOF AT N43.

Narrative: I HAD STARTED UP AND MONITORED UNICOM (123.00) FOR ABOUT 5 MINS AND HAD TOLD AN INCOMING ACFT ABOUT 10 MI OUT THAT RWY 18 WAS THE ACTIVE RWY. AT APPROX XA15 I TAXIED TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE ON THE MIDFIELD TXWY, LOOKED DOWN BOTH RWYS AND SAW NO TFC ON EITHER FINAL, ANNOUNCED BACK TAXI ON RWY 18 AND TAXIED. WHEN I WAS 1/2 WAY DOWN THE RWY TOWARDS THE APCH END OF RWY 18, A PIPER CHEROKEE (NOT THE ACFT I HAD EARLIER NOTIFIED OF THE ACTIVE RWY) WENT BY 100 FT ABOVE AND 100 FT TO THE W ON A GAR. HE RADIOED TO ASK IF I HAD SEEN HIM ON FINAL, AND I REPLIED THAT I HAD NOT, AND THAT HE WAS LNDG DOWNWIND OUT OF THE SUN AND HAD NOT ANNOUNCED HIS POS ON DOWNWIND, BASE OR FINAL FOR RWY 36. I BELIEVE THAT I DID NOT SEE THE ACFT FOR THE 3 REASONS NOTED ABOVE. A GOOD LESSON FOR ALL IN THIS MATTER IS THAT WE SHOULD USE OUR RADIOS AT UNCTLED FIELDS AND THAT WE ALL SHOULD USE THE ACTIVE RWY THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS USING. I WAS DEFINITELY AT FAULT FOR NOT SEEING THE CHEROKEE, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS BECAUSE HE WAS IN OR NEAR THE SUN WHILE ON AN UNANNOUNCED FINAL APCH. IF I HAD HEARD HIM ANNOUNCE ON FINAL, I WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE HELD AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND LET HIM LAND.
