Flight originated at pao direct to sjc with transponder code and CFI on board. Reported overhead moffett. Instructed to remain on moffett tower 119.55. Contacted sjc immediately upon handoff and was instructed to 'remain clear of class C.' DME was less than 3 mi. Initiated immediate right turn to 270 degrees to clear class C. No visible traffic issues. Proceeded northwest to sql.

Narrative: FLT ORIGINATED AT PAO DIRECT TO SJC WITH XPONDER CODE AND CFI ON BOARD. RPTED OVERHEAD MOFFETT. INSTRUCTED TO REMAIN ON MOFFETT TWR 119.55. CONTACTED SJC IMMEDIATELY UPON HDOF AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO 'REMAIN CLR OF CLASS C.' DME WAS LESS THAN 3 MI. INITIATED IMMEDIATE R TURN TO 270 DEGS TO CLR CLASS C. NO VISIBLE TFC ISSUES. PROCEEDED NW TO SQL.
