Narrative:

How the problem arose: I was given a clearance to FL220. Then it was amended to 15000 ft, and once again to 14000 ft. I was close to 14000 ft when given the second amendment. At that time I was looking at traffic so I was outside and looking inside when I pushed the altitude hold. It may or may not have been my altitude hold button. The hold was not engaged and I flew through 14000 ft. Contributing factors: ATC did not call out traffic. I was looking outside. ATC could have given me a vector sooner to keep separation.
