Narrative:

On the arrival, we were cleared to 10000 ft. Descending through 11000 ft and preparing to level at 10000 ft, my first officer was on the radio with company operations who informed him we had an unscheduled aircraft change in phx. I was distracted by this radio conversation, which I was monitoring, and inadvertently descended below my assigned altitude. I also exceeded 250 KTS since we normally slow at 10000 ft after leveloff. I realized my mistake at 8800 ft and immediately climbed to 10000 ft. There was no traffic conflict.
