Narrative:

I was the designated boarding flight attendant and taking tickets at the jetbridge door. A passenger hurriedly handed me his boarding pass and as I took it, I told him that I didn't think his bag would fit on board. He said, 'it fit on my last flight,' so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. As I entered the aircraft, I saw he was the only passenger standing and trying to force his bag into an overhead bin. As I got to him, I could see that the bag was not going to fit. He said, 'I'll make it fit' and because of his large size, he had the leverage to force it. From the front perspective, I could not see that he had actually collapsed the overhead door inward. After takeoff as I was walking up the aisle, I then could see the broken bin door. I knew that meant we now had to find a place to stow all the bags for landing. I looked to find the passenger who had bags in that broken bin -- including the passenger who had broken the bin. I informed him of the damage and that, in the future, he would need to check his oversized bag. He did not respond. I went to the back to begin the service and within 10 mins, I saw him angrily walking toward me. He pushed through 3 other flight attendants and stopped once he was standing over me and yelling at me saying, 'I'm not doing anything you say!' I told him I was calling the cockpit and he ran into the bathroom. I stayed on the interphone until he came out (approximately 5 mins). I asked him if he was going to comply and he said, 'I'll handle you once we're off this plane.' I asked him if he was physically threatening me and he said that he meant he was going to speak with a supervisor. I felt certain that he intended to do that so I told the captain that everything was ok. Later the purser obtained his personal information.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT RPT REGARDING BOARDING OF A B767-200 IN WHICH A PAX WAS TOLD HIS BAGGAGE WOULD NOT FIT IN THE OVERHEAD. HE REFUSED TO CHK IT INDICATING HE HAD CARRIED IT ON BEFORE. WHEN STOWING THE BAG HE BROKE THE OVERHEAD BIN DOOR. THIS CREATED EXTRA WORK FOR THE CABIN ATTENDANTS AS THEY HAD TO LOCATE PLACES TO STOW ALL THE OTHER LUGGAGE IN ADDITION TO HIS BAG FOR LNDG.
