Narrative:

On oct/xa/98 on flight from jfk to lax, passenger X and his wife were sitting with a small white dog in a soft carry-on. They had the dog in their lap during the meal service, wrapped in one of our blankets and feeding the dog with a fork from her (the wife) meal tray. I told her the dog had to be in the container for the entire flight, and people around didn't appreciate the dog being out during the meal service. Said as a generality. They put the dog away. I told the purser about the dog. She came back 3 different times during the flight and they had the dog out again. They said I was rude and they asked the people around them and they didn't care if they had their dog out. They said they only had to keep the dog in the container during landing and takeoff. They were not on our paperwork for having a pet in the cabin. We asked them if the agent on the ground had told them of the rules for a pet in the cabin. That's when they said, yes -- just for takeoff and landing. Flight attendant #2 brought the captain's manual back to show them the rules. He accused us of harassing him and he was going to write us up. End of flight. Then on nov/ab/98 the passenger X's showed up for flight. I was working first class galley and flight attendant #2 was working in first class and at the boarding door. The X's came to the door and flight attendant #2 said hi. Mr X said 'we're not going to have a problem are we?' I think after that I said to an agent that someone on the ground needs to talk to these people about the rules for bringing on a pet. The agents got this information out of the computer and found that they had not paid for the pet in the cabin. I told the captain about their trip out to lax, and he said take them off.
