Narrative:

I don't know the full call sign or type. I believe it was aircraft X. He was northeast on J61 from psb to buf en route to yyz at FL280. He had climbed from FL210 at psb. I was busy doing coordination/separation at the other side of the sector while being distraction by a supervisor asking about me changing shifts in dec/98 and by a member of the personnel office selling raffle tickets. I scanned back to aircraft X and looked for conflicting traffic on J584 -- there was none. Then I checked for separation with aircraft pit direct slt. That was also fine, so I initiated a handoff to sector 73, then switched aircraft X frequency to sector 73 when they took the handoff. I should have handed him off to sector 77. The plane was at FL280. Sector 73 is 0 ft to FL270. Sector 77 is FL280 to FL330.
