Narrative:

Lack of proper, accurate, and timely information about equipment needed to make precision approach. On nov/wed/98, I was working anchorage ARTCC sector, southeast alaska. Air carrier X was inbound to ketchican, ak, at about XX25 am local (XC25Z). The facility outage information provided to me showed the DME on the 1-ECH localizer as OTS. This notice was time/date stamped nov/wed/98, at XB15Z. Precision approach to ktn cannot be made without this equipment. At XD30Z I was informed the equipment had been returned to service at XA25Z, some 14 hours earlier. This situation is unacceptable.
