Narrative:

Captain briefed a captain flying, flaps 15 degrees, full runway length takeoff for runway 1 at ile. I steered the aircraft to the left (east) side of the runway anticipating the 180 degree turn at the end. As I approached my intended turn point, I felt the left main gear leave the pavement. I immediately applied right nosewheel steering, and added additional power to get back on the pavement. It quickly became apparent we would not be able to do so. I then applied the parking brake and began radio communications with company and CTAF/unicom to get assistance. First officer was informed to maintain listening watch on CTAF since we were on the runway. After transportation arrived, passenger deplaned normally. No injuries or anxieties were noted. Postflt inspection revealed 2 wheel furrows approximately 3-4 inches deep, about 30 ft long, stopping 12 inches from pavement edge. A nick in one left propeller leading edge 3 inches from the tip was also noted. Mud had been pushed in front of wheels to a pile 12-14 inches high. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft incurred damage to the left propeller and the brakes and wheels were replaced. The reporter said the aircraft was maintenance ferried to the overhaul shop and a precautionary gear swing accomplished.

Title: AN EMB120 WHILE BACK TAXIING ON RWY AND PREPARING FOR A 180 DEG TURN, THE ACFT L MAIN GEAR DEPARTED THE RWY STRANDING THE ACFT AND INCURRING DAMAGE TO THE L PROP.

Narrative: CAPT BRIEFED A CAPT FLYING, FLAPS 15 DEGS, FULL RWY LENGTH TKOF FOR RWY 1 AT ILE. I STEERED THE ACFT TO THE L (E) SIDE OF THE RWY ANTICIPATING THE 180 DEG TURN AT THE END. AS I APCHED MY INTENDED TURN POINT, I FELT THE L MAIN GEAR LEAVE THE PAVEMENT. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED R NOSEWHEEL STEERING, AND ADDED ADDITIONAL PWR TO GET BACK ON THE PAVEMENT. IT QUICKLY BECAME APPARENT WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO SO. I THEN APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE AND BEGAN RADIO COMS WITH COMPANY AND CTAF/UNICOM TO GET ASSISTANCE. FO WAS INFORMED TO MAINTAIN LISTENING WATCH ON CTAF SINCE WE WERE ON THE RWY. AFTER TRANSPORTATION ARRIVED, PAX DEPLANED NORMALLY. NO INJURIES OR ANXIETIES WERE NOTED. THE RPTR SAID THE ACFT WAS MAINT FERRIED TO THE OVERHAUL SHOP AND A PRECAUTIONARY GEAR SWING ACCOMPLISHED.
