Narrative:
I obtained a void time. Took off 4 mins prior to void time, but when initializing contact with dtw center and nashville center out of glasgow, ky, (2 occurrences) ATC never heard my calls until apparently a few mins past void, to which they advised of such. Maybe a weak radio, low altitude, line of sight, or frequency congestion were contributing factors. I had the radios checked and corrected at our base at sdf prior to my next flight. ATC perceived me as taking off beyond void time, but I didn't and just had radio problems.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AIR TAXI ACFT UNABLE TO CONTACT DTW TRACON UNTIL AFTER IFR VOID TIME.
Narrative: I OBTAINED A VOID TIME. TOOK OFF 4 MINS PRIOR TO VOID TIME, BUT WHEN INITIALIZING CONTACT WITH DTW CTR AND NASHVILLE CTR OUT OF GLASGOW, KY, (2 OCCURRENCES) ATC NEVER HEARD MY CALLS UNTIL APPARENTLY A FEW MINS PAST VOID, TO WHICH THEY ADVISED OF SUCH. MAYBE A WEAK RADIO, LOW ALT, LINE OF SIGHT, OR FREQ CONGESTION WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. I HAD THE RADIOS CHKED AND CORRECTED AT OUR BASE AT SDF PRIOR TO MY NEXT FLT. ATC PERCEIVED ME AS TAKING OFF BEYOND VOID TIME, BUT I DIDN'T AND JUST HAD RADIO PROBS.
