Narrative:

On descent into den, #3 throttle was stuck at 80% power on the pull back. After a couple of attempts to free it, we called maintenance. No resolution could be found, so I decided to shut #3 engine down for the approach and landing. ATC was advised. Flight attendants were advised of the precautionary engine shutdown and no need for a preparation for evacuate/evacuation, unless things got worse. I would keep them advised. PA announcement was made to the passenger. The #3 engine was then shut down by the checklist. The approach and landing was normal.
